KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) – A Missouri man is accused of running an elaborate scheme involving unsuspecting car buyers on Facebook Marketplace.
Mamadou Diallo, 24, now faces 14 felony charges after allegedly defrauding at least eight victims out of more than $24,000, Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson announced Tuesday.

Court records show that Diallo is charged with six counts of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and eight counts of forgery.
If convicted on all counts, Diallo could face up to 98 years in prison.
How the alleged scam worked
Between May and June 2025, the Kansas City Police Department said it received eight stolen vehicle reports that followed a similar pattern.
In each case, investigators indicated that victims purchased a vehicle through Facebook Marketplace from a seller using an online alias. That seller was later identified as Diallo.
After completing the sales in person, police noted that Diallo provided what appeared to be legitimate titles and bills of sale.
Shortly after the transactions, law enforcement officials said each buyer reported their newly purchased vehicle as stolen.
When detectives interviewed Diallo, he denied buying or selling vehicles on the platform, according to police.
Where the case stands
As of Tuesday morning, Diallo remained in custody on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
Diallo also has holds from sheriff’s offices in three other counties.
Court records show Diallo was previously charged in 2025 with multiple counts of tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing from police.
