Shelly Alexander announces candidacy for Henderson County mayor

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A new candidate has thrown their hat in the ring for Henderson County mayor.

In a statement made on social media Wednesday, Alexander shared her plans to run.

I would like to take the time to announce my candidacy for Henderson County Mayor.

I am a lifelong resident of Henderson County, deeply rooted in the community that I proudly call home. My family has planted their roots here for generations, and I have dedicated my life to serving the place that shaped my values, my faith, and my commitment to others.

My faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is central to who I am and how I lead. Guided by biblical principles of integrity, humility, compassion, and courage, I believe leadership is a calling rooted in service – doing what is right, even when it is not easy, and always putting people before politics.

With unmatched experience at both the local and state level, I bring proven leadership and a deep understanding of how government works — and how it should work for the people. I will stand firm on my principles, lead with clarity, and believe there is no gray area when it comes to honesty and accountability.

I am a proud mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. My motivation for public service is personal and deeply felt: to help create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Henderson County for our children, grandchildren, and every family who calls this community home.

Known as a go-getter and problem-solver, I will lead with courage and conviction. I will listen to the community, value transparency, and take action rather than making excuses.

My leadership reflects both lifelong commitment to Henderson County and my faith-driven desire to serve others well.

I am running for mayor because I believe Henderson County deserves leadership that is strong, proven, faithful, and true – leadership that honors our past, protects our values, and works tirelessly to build a better future.
