NWS reminds West Tennesseans of safety tips during storm damage

The National Weather Service (NWS) is reminding individuals of some important safety tips as the Mid-South  is being impacted by severe winter weather.

“The entire Mid-South is experiencing tremendous impacts due to various types of winter weather right now,” wrote NWS.

It is imperative that individuals remember that freezing rain is more dangerous than snow. Ice forms on pavements and roads. The icy roads make for extremely hazardous driving conditions. If you must get out on the roads, please use caution and take all safety measures.

As we have already seen by some of our viewer photos, ice can cause downed power lines and trees. Be aware of the potential downed lines, tree limbs, and structures if you are outside.
