Fire Officials Tout Benefits of Fire “Knox Box”

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- As the temperatures drop, fire crews tend to see more fire calls. The Madison County Fire Department said it has found a way to put fires out faster with less damage to your property. Home and business owners can have a Knox Box installed, which holds a key to their property. Firefighters can then use a master key installed on their truck to get into the box. Fire Marshal Don Friddle said rather than wasting precious time waiting on a key holder to arrive, the new system will make firefighting faster. “The faster that we can get in there and discover a fire and take the appropriate action, the quicker we get it put out. we limit the damage to the building, we limit the damage to the contents, and everybody wins,” said Fire Marshal Don Friddle of the Madison County Fire Dept. Fire officials encourage all business and homeowners with fire alarms or sprinkler systems to look into the Knox Box program.
