The State of Emergency has been extended for McNairy County
MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. – The McNairy County Emergency Management Agency announced on Friday, January 30, the State of Emergency has been extended for the county.
Below freezing temperatures are forecasted in McNairy County through the weekend. If you are without power and an alternate heat source make plans now to get to a warming center or to a location that has heat.
There is a Boil Water and/or Cautionary Boil Water notice county wide. This could be an extended notice due to the pressure loss in the systems.
The water systems have all pumps working, tanks are filling but there is still pressure issues in some areas. Please check your water lines for leaks.
Adamsville, Michie, and Selmer Water utilities have all received bottled water that is available to the public. Check the local social media pages for those service areas to see the distribution points.
Power outages remain across the county. There were approximately 9,000 customers without power at the start of the day yesterday, the latest update shows approximately 6,000 without power. PEC is making progress, you can now call in to PEC and report specific line damage at your residence. This will help them identify needs in your area.
The Town of Selmer has a shower trailer available at Selmer Utility Division if you need a shower and can safely get there.
Main roads have greatly improved. Backroad conditions are still hazardous across the county. Ice covered roads, downed trees, and power lines are still present on the roadways. TDOT and crews from other agencies will be assisting with clearing roads in the county starting today. We have chainsaw crews working in the county, these teams include local and state crews.
Warming Centers are open in the county. If you do not have heat, now is the time to have a plan to find a place with heat.
