Mann’s Wrecker Service talks winter storm towing
JACKSON, Tenn.—Road conditions have been a problem for residents across Jackson and West TN since the start of the winter storm. Many drivers have attempted to make their way around on the icy roadways and find themselves utilizing local towing services.
We spoke to Rebecca Adams, Manager of Mann’s Wrecker Service, to find out how many service calls they’ve received to help stranded drivers.
Adams says, they have responded to around 200 calls per day since the start of the winter storm and throughout the continued deteriorating road conditions.
She says around 60% of those calls have been attended to with only a few impossible due to the area or conditions. Most of those calls were for tow-outs to retrieve stuck vehicles from ditches or other areas.
Adams says rates had to be increased by around $100 due to maintenance of towing equipment and the extra safety concerns for their workers.
“We’re having to take risks with our guys. In consideration for the safety of us and the safety of the people we are doing it for, I would just advise people to stay home until the weather clears. You know, be kind and check on your neighbors. Especially if they’re elderly, if you can walk next door, go and check on them. Please do that, because we want to make sure everybody in our community is safe,” Adams said.
If you have to get out and find yourself needing a tow, Mann’s Wrecker Service can be reached 24 hours a day by calling (731) 424-2173.
