First Responders Gather To Honor Fallen Deputy
Weakley Co., TENN — As the community continues to mourn the loss of a beloved deputy, he was honored Sunday night in a big way. The Weakley County Sheriff’s Department held a sea of blue tribute to honor Deputy Derrick Bonham, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty this past Friday. The sea of blue tribute began outside of the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office with several different law enforcement agencies lining up on the side of State Highway 22 facing Martin.

The route continued from WCSO to Highway 45 East around Martin and ended in Greenfield on Front Street. There were several different agencies in attendance to honor Deputy Bonham including local sheriff departments, police departments, Tennessee state troopers, along with ambulances and fire trucks. According to Weakley County Sheriff Terry McDade, there were hundreds of units that passed by in the sea of blue.
Several community members were also in attendance to honor the deputy. According to WCSO, Deputy Bonham served the citizens of Weakley County for approximately two years. He quickly became admired by residents of Weakley County and was dedicated to keeping the community safe. Deputy Bonham was also a father to three children and a husband. There is currently a memorial fund established at Greenfield Banking Company. Deputy Bonham’s funeral service is set to begin tomorrow on February 2nd in Greenfield. Deputy Bonham’s visitation will begin at 10 in the morning at the Greenfield School Gymnasium with a memorial service set to start at 2 in the afternoon. There will also be a procession to follow the memorial service.
