Jackson police officers honored at annual awards ceremony
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Police Department officers received recognition at an annual awards ceremony attended by families and department members.

Chief of Police Thom Corley said the ceremony highlights officers who exceed basic job requirements.
“We have an absolutely wonderful organization full of amazing people and day in day out, they’re doing things, not just the bear minimum, they’re going well beyond that,” Corley said. “We have an opportunity to recognize that internally, but I think it’s important that we take time to, at least once a year to publically recognize them for what they’ve done.”

Deputy Chief Beaver received the Police Medal of Merit Award from Chief Corley.
Patrol Officer Daniel Calderon was named Officer of the Year. He offered advice to other officers seeking similar recognition.
“Keep doing what you do. I know there’s a lot more better officers than me, I didn’t really get that many arrest or whatnot, we don’t really harp on that too much, but some of these guys are keeping y’all’s street safe and they’re doing a way better job than I can,” Calderon said.
The department also presented awards for Rookie of the Year, Employee of the Year and Investigator of the Year.
Families and fellow officers gathered to celebrate after the ceremony.
