Our Jackson Home collaborates with Reel Collective to spotlight community leaders

JACKSON, Tenn. — Our Jackson Home received a grant from the City of Jackson’s Neighborhood Services to create a documentary highlighting local community leaders.

The Neighborhood Improvement Project Grant funded “Hidden Leaders,” a collaboration between Our Jackson Home and the Reel Collective of Jackson.

Our Jackson Home releases two journals annually, one in winter and one in summer. The documentary builds on the Winter 2026 issue of Our Jackson Home.

Community-nominated leaders featured

The documentary features organizations and individuals across Jackson who have made an impact on the community. All were nominated by residents.

“These people deserve to be in the spotlight even though they would prefer to be hidden leaders so it’s really just what they already do in a new form of art,” said Shelby Tyre, founder and owner of the Reel Collective.

Program Director of Our Jackson Home Lizzie Emmons said the featured subjects often work without recognition.

“They don’t often get recognized. They aren’t regularly getting awards, but the work that they do holds up our community in such an important way,” Emmons said.

Documentary release and viewing party

The documentary is set to release next week and will be available online for all community members to watch.

A release party for “Hidden Leaders” will be hosted at Turntable Coffee Counter next Thursday, February 26. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event is free.
