St. John #2 MB celebrates Black History Month

Madison Co., Tenn.—A local church celebrates Black History Month with a service filled with not only the gospel but lessons in history.

St. John #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Denmark presents a unique Sunday service.

The event took place at the church located at 191 Bond Cemetery Road.

Church leaders and the congregation welcomed visitors to enjoy the Black History program with choir singing and a youth dance program.

The event also included a live history museum featuring church youth and adults. The program included remembering and honoring the true importance of Black History month.

“We had Billy Harris, Jackie Robinson, Madam CJ. Walker, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X, and we did this because we wanted the youth to learn where they come from, fabulous Black American people,” said  Lakendria Mays, Youth Director at St. John 2 Missionary Baptist Church.

Following the service, the congregation and guests were invited to enjoy a meal together in fellowship.
