James Madison Chapter of SSAR to share Patriot’s Chest

JACKSON, Tenn. —One local non-profit organization is preparing to share a little history with West TN.

The James Madison Chapter of the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution met Sunday at the VFW Post 6496 in Jackson.

The group offered a look at their educational project in the works called the Patriot’s Chest.

Members compiled a collection of unique items from the Revolutionary War era that can be transported to other venues, in hopes of sharing the history with others.

Among things included are toys, kitchen wares, and many other interesting items used by those living during the colonial period.

Members tell us they hope to take the exhibit to schools or various other locations to share a history lesson with students across the area.

“The more people that understand our goals and how we function, I think it just helps spread the word, and allows us to have more opportunities to get into the school systems, and educate the children as to Colonial ways,” said David Willard, Patriots’ Chest initiative.
