Allan Hess announces candidacy for county commissioner; launches ‘Every Child Deserves a Village’ initiative

PRESS RELEASE FROM ALLAN HESS:

JACKSON, Tenn. — Local educator and community leader Allan Hess has officially announced his candidacy for County Commissioner, District 2. Running on a platform of rebuilding local connection, Hess is calling for a move away from the “every man is an island” mentality that has left many Jackson families struggling in isolation.

“People don’t know their neighbors like they used to,” said Hess. “When we lose that connection, our children fall through the cracks. We must work together to create a supportive community, because every child deserves a village.”

Hess’s campaign is built on three actionable pillars designed to revitalize District 2:

  • Paid Mentorship Programs: Establishing a system where dedicated mentors receive a stipend to lead a character-based curriculum, ensuring our youth have reliable role models and strong emotional support.
  • Safe, Connected Streets: Implementing traffic-calming measures to create slower, safer streets that accommodate drivers, bikers, and walkers alike, allowing children to safely play outside again.
  • Workplace Housing Incentives: Partnering with churches and private landowners to incentivize the development of triplexes and fourplexes, making homeownership an achievable reality for Jackson’s working class.

Campaign Kickoff: Coffee & Conversation The community is invited to meet Allan and discuss these initiatives in person:

  • When: Saturday, March 7th | 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
  • Where: Jackson-Madison County Library
  • Note: The Library does not advocate for or endorse the views of any candidate.

“I’m running to be a bridge,” Hess added. “Whether it’s connecting a student to a mentor or a family to an affordable home, the resources exist right here in Jackson. We just need to start acting like a village again.” Supporters can find more information or request a yard sign at www.AllanHess.com.
