3.9 magnitude earthquake shakes Missouri Bootheel, felt across region

JACKSON, Tenn. — A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Steele in the Missouri Bootheel at 12:59 p.m. CDT Thursday, according to WBBJ Meteorologist Moe Shamell.

The tremor was felt in Clarksville, Tennessee, Paducah, Kentucky and near Ardmore, Alabama.

A smaller earthquake was reported earlier Thursday near Bogota, Tennessee at 4:25 a.m. CDT with a magnitude of 1.8.
