Freed-Hardeman University names Mister and Miss FHU

HENDERSON, Tenn. — Freed-Hardeman University honored outstanding seniors with the titles of Mister and Miss FHU for the 86th year.

Faculty and students nominated eight seniors—four men and four women—recognized for leadership, service and faith on campus. The group includes Bible, biology, communications and photography majors, many of them team captains, club officers and honor students.

A reception for the nominees was held at the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center.

“It’s an exciting time when we are able to honor the students who perhaps represent the ideology of what a Freed-Hardeman student ought to be,” said David Shannon, president of FHU.

Tiro “Philly” Nong, of Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Anna Claire Butt, of Columbia, Tennessee, were crowned Mister and Miss FHU.
