Investigation Begins into Deadly Chester Co. Fire

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn.- (It was) “shocking, scary, heart-breaking” The sight of what was left of her great uncle’s house was too hard for Samantha Wallace to put into words. Charred ruins were all that was left of a mobile home after a deadly house fire in Chester County on Tuesday. The fire quickly tore through the home, just before noon in the 3700 block of Garland Road near the Madison/Chester County line. “When we got here flames coming out of the roof and all around,” said Chester County Fire Chief Jim Vest. Nearly a dozen firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the fire. Investigators said a man inside the house died. “We got it knocked down enough and found there was a body inside,” Vest said. The victim’s wife and child were not home when the fire broke out Wallace said the loss is hard to cope with.”It hurts. It’s shocking when I pulled up, really hurting.” Investigators have not yet released the name of the victim. Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
