What’s New Wednesday: Healthy Hair Lice Clinic
JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) — Healthy Hair Lice Clinic recently opened in Jackson, offering treatment options to help get rid of lice infestations.
Co-owners Brittney Woods and Rachael Ferri said they started the clinic because of their own experiences as mothers.
“We just know the stress of it. Literally hours and hours of just trying to treat your child at home. With them being upset, you’re upset. They’re embarrassed. You’re embarrassed. But it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s anything anybody can get,” Ferri said.
Treatment options
The clinic offers full-service treatments as well as an express option. They also do checkups for those who are unsure if they have lice or because they were recently exposed to someone who has lice.
Ferri said clients can expect a thorough process when they visit.
“We have a full service treatment, which you come in and we saturate your hair with oil, this certain type of oil, and we let it sit for 20 minutes. Then we wash your hair, then blow dry it, and then we use the Flosonix devices, which is the one that desiccates all the live knits, and they’re not viable. And then we will do a complimentary comb-out treatment at the end. So you will have no knits or visible eggs when you leave,” Ferri said.
Pesticide-free solutions
The clinic is the only lice clinic in Jackson and the only clinic within two hours of the city. The owners encourage those with lice to avoid over-the-counter treatments, saying they can be damaging to hair. Their solutions are pesticide-free and non-toxic.
Their goal is to make the experience less stressful and more comfortable for everyone.
“We want people to feel confident that if they find lice, it can be taken care of. It doesn’t have to be a nightmare where it lasts weeks or months, where your kids are upset and embarrassed. We just want it to be a positive experience. We are parents and healthcare professionals. So we are used to it all. We’ve seen it all. And everybody is welcome,” Woods said.
