Woman Arrested After Allegedly Robbing, Stabbing Man at Local Store

BETHEL SPRINGS, Tenn. – A McNairy County woman accused of robbing a convenience store and stabbing an innocent bystander has been captured in Missouri. Storeowner Gary Bizzell was still in shock as he relived the incident. “She tried to stab me and I jumped back, and she started beating the cash register telling me to open the cash register and I said I’m not going to let you rob me,” Bizzell said. Investigators said Jennifer Butler charged inside Gary’s Place in Bethel Springs armed with a knife. When the storeowner did not cooperate with her demands, he said Butler got violent. “She came at me again and I jumped back and grabbed my craftsmen toolbox and threw it at her,” Bizzell said. “This woman grabbed the tool box and threw it back at me and I thought, my God.” Investigators said Butler then grabbed the register and ran for the door. Customer David Crowe was watching the scene from outside and made an attempt to stop her. “I blocked the door, and I said no you’re not coming out,” Crowe said. “Then she kept beating the door with the cash register until it broke the glass on the door. Then she stabbed the knife through the door and hit my hand.” Crowe said he then backed off and Butler fled the scene. Nearly 21 hours later, police tracked her down in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. At the end of the day, everyone involved said they are just happy that nobody was seriously hurt. They do say that getting Jennifer Butler off the streets is important because they did not want to see her strike again. “I’ve never been really afraid of anything in my life,” Bizzell said. “But that lady when she came across the counter with that knife, it had my attention. It really had my attention. But I’ll tell you right now, she could kill somebody.” Investigators said Butler faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery and assault, along with vandalism.
