Alabama man dies ATV crash

AMORY, Miss. (AP) – An Alabama man has died in an ATV accident in Monroe County on Friday.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley tells WCBI-TV in Columbus, Miss., (http://bit.ly/IZTJ3u ) that 40-year-old David Christopher Herrington of Samson, Ala., was the passenger in a Polaris Razor when it flipped over into a swollen creek.
Gurley says Herrington was trapped under the ATV for several minutes until rescue crews arrived and took him to Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Gurley says the accident happened at Wheeler Creek Campground, three miles east of Amory, about 1:30 p.m.
Gurley says Herrington died as a result of drowning.
