Man Arraigned For Throat Cutting Incident

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The man accused of slashing another man’s throat during an argument was arraigned in Jackson City Court, Tuesday. Stacey Mittlestat, 41, is facing an Attempted Second Degree Murder Charge for a Dec. 15 incident that left another man in the hospital. According to officials, Jason Whetstine, 37, of Beech Bluff, and Mittlestat got into an argument inside Mittlestat’s trailer. The two men then became involved in a fist fight. During the fight, Mittlestat cut Whetstine across the throat with a knife causing a severe laceration. Investigators learned that Whetstine’s wife had just ended a relationship with Mittlestat. Mittlestat will be back in court on Dec. 26 and is being help on a $100,000 bond.
