Four-Month-Old Baby Dropped During Fist Fight

EAST JACKSON — Jackson police are investigating an assault between two women that resulted in an infant’s injury. Around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a disturbance call at Royal Arms Apartments, 1580 N. Royal Street. Based on the preliminary investigation, two women became involved in a fist fight. One of the women did not live at the apartment complex and had brought her 4-month-old child. The mother was holding her infant daughter during the fight, and the infant was dropped. The infant was transported to a local hospital, then later transferred to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis with a skull fracture. The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services was notified about this incident. No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. The police investigation is ongoing into the assault, as well as child abuse/ neglect concerns.
