Estranged husband charged in teacher death
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A grand jury has charged the estranged husband of a Memphis kindergarten teacher with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in her death.
The Shelby County district attorney general’s office says 41-year-old Chris Jones was indicted Tuesday and is being held on $1 million bond in the Shelby County jail.
Arraignment is set for Thursday. Online jail records didn’t indicate whether Jones has a lawyer.
He’s accused in the death of 33-year-old Heather Palumbo-Jones, who was reported missing April 16 when she didn’t show up for work. Her badly burned body was found a week later in a wooded area off U.S. 64.
