Deputies Combat Hunger with Deer Donation Program

PARIS, Tenn. — Deputies in Henry County are preparing to feed dozens of needy families this winter. The sheriff’s office has already had 87 deer donated for the deputies for the program.. “I have no problem working and helping the community but it’s a good feeling to know that you’re feeding people who really need it,” Anthony Brewer said, a Deputies for the Hungry worker. This is the fourth year for the Deputies for the Hungry Program. Sheriff Monte Belew says anyone in the county can donate a deer they’ve hunted, and for the last several weeks, they have been processing and packaging the meat to hand out at the first of the year. However, families in desperate need will get meat in time for the holidays. Anthony Brewer who has worked with the program for three years say they have collected 87 deer this year, which is four less than last year. Anyone who lives in Henry County can bring a donated deer to the sheriff’s department in Paris this weekend. They will stop collecting Sunday night.
