JACKSON, Tenn.- Ponds and lakes could freeze as the temperatures drop. The Jackson Fire Department wants to remind you not to walk on the ice. Experts say hypothermia is a serious concern if you fall through the ice. If you do fall in, firefighters said get out of the wet clothes as soon as possible. The fire department said you never know if the ice is thick. “Get some emergency personnel out there. We have the strategies and tactics that we could use, different techniques that we could use to go out onto the ice safely to rescue the victim, ” said Rico Bryson of the Jackson Fire Department. Firefighters said if you see someone fall through the ice do not go in after them. Instead, call for help.
