LEXINGTON, Tenn.- The Lexington Walmart break room looked more like a barber shop, Wednesday. Several employees went there to have their heads shaved. Charlie Day, one of the store’s assistant managers, is fighting cancer and is about to leave to Jacksonville, Florida for a stem cell transplant. A few of the employees said they would shave their heads bald if all the workers at the store helped raise money for Charlie. They held bake sales, chili cook-offs and took donations and ended up raising $2100 in less than three weeks. The guys stayed true to their word Wednesday morning, and other employees said they had a blast participating in this great cause. “We are gonna make this, and when I say we, I mean we, are going to make this journey together. I appreciate this so much and I love you from the bottom of my heart,” said Day. Day’s transplant and recovery is expected to take between three and four months. He says he plans to return back to work at Walmart when it’s all over.
