HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies in Henderson County have closed a burglary case after the suspect admitted his theft to his boss, Thursday. Investigators charged Christopher Hensley, 26, with theft over $1,000 and burglary after he told his boss he had been stealing items from his personal storage shed. Theft victim Felix Tuggles Jr. told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he didn’t even know anything was missing. “Well he came into the office and wanted to talk privately,” Tuggles said. “He told me a few things going on with his situation and then he just said I took your stuff.” Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke said deputies were notified of the theft immediately. Hensley gave officers permission to search his home, and it was there that most of Tuggles’ things were recovered. Investigators said Hensley was advised of his rights, before he gave a written statement admitting to taking the property. “I think his conscience bothered him and he came forward which was the right thing to do considering,” Sheriff Duke said. “He apologized to the victim at work and told him he was sorry, it doesn’t erase what he did but maybe it is a step in the right direction for him.” Deputies said without Hensley’s admission, solving the case would have been tough because the theft had not yet been reported. “Who knows how long it would have gone before it was noticed?” Sheriff Duke said. “That’s what complicates these cases somewhat.” Deputies said Hensley reportedly took two 9 inch T.V’s, two wooden end tables, and two queen size mattresses along with golf clubs, speakers, an amplifier, couch and love seat. “I’m glad he came forward but it still kind of hurts because I had a lot of sentimental values taken,” Tuggles said. Tuggles said he is still missing an electronic drum set that was given to him by his deceased brother and a set of antique dishes belonging to his mother. “I hope that more people will come forward in other cases for other people but for myself I’m gonna keep a close eye on everything that means a lot to me,” Tuggles said. Hensley is currently free on $10,000 bond. Tuggles tells us Hensley has been fired. If you know where the still missing items can be found call the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department at (731) 968-7777.
