WEST JACKSON — The Jackson-Madison County Health Department has been recognized as one of the best in the country when it comes to handling emergencies. The department has been recognized by the National Association of County and City Health Officials for its ability to plan for, respond to and recover from public health emergencies. Less that 15 percent of all health departments in the country have received this distinction. “Madison county residents can rest assured that Madison County is well protected from public health emergencies,” Lynn Mooney, Director, said. Three other regional health departments in Tennessee were recognized as well. These agencies were the first in the state to receive this award.
