Seat Belt Fines to Increase in Tennessee

EAST JACKSON — Getting caught riding around without your seat belt on in Tennessee could soon cost you a lot more. Under a bill pushed by the Governor Haslam, the fine for not wearing a seat belt would increase from $10 to $25 for first offenders and from $20 to $50 on second and subsequent offenses. Safety officials believe raising fines could lower accidents and injuries.
