Severe Thunderstorms Possible Tonight

Weather Update – 11:30 p.m. – Wednesday, April 8th

A Tornado Watch is still in effect for several counties in West Tennessee including Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, and Tipton counties. This watch will be in effect until 2:00 A.M. Thursday. Remember – a tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather including tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds in and close to the watch area.

Test

Severe thunderstorms formed in West Tennessee earlier this afternoon producing hail and strong winds in parts of Madison, Henderson, Chester, Decatur, Hardin, and McNairy counties. Those storms are now gone but a threat for more severe weather arrives later on tonight after 8 p.m. and continues through midnight. I’m tracking these thunderstorms live on WBBJ so tune in to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News at 10!

TONIGHT
Thunderstorms will continue to gradually leave West Tennessee overnight but there’s a risk for severe weather in southwest Tennessee still under the tornado watch at least until 1 a.m. Thursday. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings in case one of those sources fails to work! Power outages are possible so have all your smart-devices charged and ready to go too. Temperatures will drop to the lower 50s by sunrise.

Skies will be mostly sunny tomorrow with highs in the lower to middle 60s. It’ll be breezy at times with north winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour, but lighter winds Thursday night could allow for temperatures to reach the middle and upper 30s Friday morning. Good Friday may start out with a light frost in some spots. Stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News for the latest forecast and keep up with Storm Team Weather online too for more updates.
