Veterans Recall D-Day Invasion 70 Years Ago

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.-The world is commemorating D-Day–a pivotal point in World War II that turned the tide in favor of the allied forces. Almost 10,000 allied troops were killed or wounded on June 6, 1944. Here in West Tennessee, WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News caught up with some vets to share their memories from 70 years ago. “I said, ‘Boy we got it’, because we were coming in so fast and restocking equipment again,” said Bailey Beechum, World War II veteran. President Obama joined European leaders in Normandy, France on Friday, where they paid tribute to U.S. service members and their allies.
