Train and car collide near Downtown Jackson

NEAR DOWNTOWN JACKSON — It was a scary sight on Monday afternoon after a train collided with a car at a railroad crossing. It happened around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Short and O’Connor Streets. According to police on the scene, a minivan crossed into the path of the train while the train was traveling westbound. The trained honked its horn, but it was too late to prevent the collision. There were no lights or bars at this railroad crossing. According to police, there were no injuries.
