Jury begins deliberating in murder case
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A jury in Tennessee has begun deliberations in the case of a man charged with killing his girlfriend and her parents.
The defendant’s 6-year-old girl testified Friday that he shot her mother and grandparents in the Memphis home she lived in with her family. Later Friday, lawyers gave closing arguments and the capital murder case went to the jury.
Sedrick Clayton is charged with fatally shooting Pashea Fisher – his girlfriend and the girl’s mother – during a 2012 argument in the home belonging to Fisher’s parents.
He’s also charged with killing his girlfriend’s parents, Arithio and Patricia Fisher, in their bedroom.
Authorities say Clayton left the home after the shooting with his daughter, before turning himself in to police.
Prosecutors will seek the death penalty if Clayton is convicted as charged.
