Jackson to host annual welcome home celebration for vets

EAST JACKSON — For the first time ever, Jackson will host the annual Tennessee Welcome Home celebration for veterans. On August 2, the 8th annual celebration will be held at Jackson State Community College. The Memphis VA will sponsor the event, and organizers say it will be a great chance for fellowship, encouraging different vendors to attend to help veterans with the transition in coming home. “Our major goal is to provide those resources and those, the benefits that our veterans might not necessarily be aware that’s available for them,” Arthur Johnson said, a U.S. Army Veteran and an organizer of the celebration. Companies looking to hire veterans will be at the event as well as colleges wanting to assist any of those looking to go back to school.
