DYERSBURG, Tenn. — One man is in custody after police say his wife was found dead after a hostage situation in Dyersburg Thursday morning. “It’s just shocking,” Andy Isbell, a neighbor said. Around 6:45 a.m., police arrived to a home on Pecan Cove after a man escaped from the home and told a neighbor there had been a possible stabbing near by. “I can’t believe something like this could happen over here in this quiet neighborhood,” Isbell said. A Special Response Team and Negotiators were called to the scene after realizing it was a hostage situation. The fire department was able to provide a ladder so that police could save a 12-year-old child from the home. “It’s just heartbreaking to know children were involved,” Alvin Perkins, a neighbor said. After a short period of time, Willie Harris, 48, came out of the home and was taken into custody. Officers then made entry into the residence and found Harris’ 55-year-old wife dead. The investigation is continuing and is being conducted by the Dyersburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
