Bike Chattanooga celebrates 100,000th trip

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Chattanooga’s bicycle transit system is celebrating a milestone: 100,000 trips.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/1GpAg5i), the Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System says the trip was made Wednesday morning.

Bike Chattanooga members pay an annual fee and receive a key to unlock and use any of 300 bicycles found at 33 downtown stations. People can also purchase a 24-hour pass to use the bikes. The program started in July 2012.

Bike Chattanooga says riders have traveled 416,850 miles and burned 17.9 million calories.
