Civil War monument to honor Minnesota soldiers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A new Civil War monument in Tennessee will honor soldiers from Minnesota who fought in the Battle of Nashville.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1B7ZHIz) reports the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force and Battle of Nashville Preservation Society are inviting the public to attend an installation ceremony on Sunday for the Minnesota Monument.
During the 1864 battle, four regiments from Minnesota attacked Confederate troops. Soldiers from Minnesota and Nashville died during the battle.
John Allyn, president of the Battle of Nashville Preservation Society, says it is a “great honor” to have Minnesota install the monument on the 150th anniversary of the battle.
