2 killed in fiery crash on I-24

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The driver of a FedEx truck who was one of two people killed in a fiery crash north of Nashville has been identified.

Police said the man killed at about 5 a.m. CST Tuesday morning was 52-year-old Michael Donley of Villa Grove, Illinois. Positive identification has not been made for the driver of the second tractor-trailer rig, which was eastbound on Interstate 24.

Police say the eastbound truck ran off the road, crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes, where it collided with the FedEx rig. The FedEx tandem trailers and the other truck’s tractor caught fire, and both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles.

Police said the driver of a car that hit the FedEx truck from behind suffered non-critical injuries.

Westbound lanes remained closed late Tuesday afternoon.
