Vol State offering free ultrasounds to expectant mothers

GALLATIN, Tenn. (AP) – Expectant mothers may sign up for a free ultrasound from the Volunteer State Community College Sonography Program starting next month.

The school in Gallatin explains the program allows Vol State students to gain experience with real obstetrics patients.

The scans will be given after 1 p.m. on Wednesdays starting in February and continuing through April. Scans usually last an hour.

The ultrasounds are supervised by a Vol State faculty member and will be performed in the Sonography Center at the Vol State campus in Gallatin.

Interested women must have been to their obstetrician and already had an initial ultrasound.
