Savannah police warn of scammer posing as officer
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — The Savannah Police Department is warning of scam call posing as one of their own.
In a Facebook post, the department says someone is calling residents from a masked phone number, which is the same number as the department.
Savannah police say the person calls themselves “Sgt. Snider” and says that the victim must pay fines for an outstanding warrant, or face being arrested.
The department is reminding everyone that they will never ask for payments over the phone.
If you receive a call you are unsure about, contact departments clerks directly at (731) 925-3200.
