BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — A fountain in Brownsville square turned into quite the mess Thursday morning, all by the hands of a prankster. “I think kids are having fun,” Elaine McCool said. “As long as they are not killing each other, I think that’s fine.” Officials say one prankster turned the Tamm Park fountain into what looked like a winter wonderland. “I get messages saying to go outside and check out the fountain on the square,” Drew MaGruder said. “When I came out here, there was bubbles all over.” A community symbol turned into a prankster playground, which residents say is something they can deal with. “I think it’s a local jolly joker to tell you the truth. I think it’s somebody just having some fun,” MaGruder said. “We all started our day with a laugh — no harm, no foul.” At one point officials say the soap spectacle piled up to almost 15 feet. “Well, I knew better than the snow so I figured it was bubbles, and I have been waiting for somebody to do that. I really have,” McCool said. “I guess they wanted to clean up the square, but bubbles in our fountain — only in Brownsville,” MaGruder said. Officials say the bottom of the fountain will remain running but the top half will remain shut off until the de-foaming chemical does its job.
