Huntingdon firefighters wrap up drill just in time for house fire

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — Firefighters were called to a house fire Monday just as they were concluding their monthly fire drill. Crews responded around 8 p.m. to the blaze in the 22000 block of East Main Street, according to Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers. The fire was coming from the upper story of the home, and the responding crew of 26 firemen quickly extinguished the flames, according to Smothers. The damage is estimated at around $37,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
