Lexington and Hardin County didn’t wait long to impose their will in Week 2. The Big Red Tigers pounded Riverside, while the Tigers from Savannah crushed the No. 1 ranked Class 2A team team in the state, Adamsville. Lexington head coach Bryant Hollingsworth is anticipating a physical and close contest against Hardin Co., who beat them 30-28 last season. “We’ve had some barn burners in the past, and I expect this to be no different,” Hollingsworth said. “Whoever comes out ready to play first and physical is going to get the upper hand.” Friday’s showdown is the first region game for both. Lexington senior Wesley White wants to have a good first impression in their nine team region. “It’s a big rivalry game I believe. It sets the tone for the rest of the season,” White said. “I believe if we come out on top this game, it sets our season straight. We’ll have the momentum going into the next three games which are probably our toughest opponents too.” Those next three opponents are Haywood, North Side and Chester County. “We don’t want to show people that we’re low or weak. Last year we didn’t have the best season,” senior Tylan Johnson said. “This year, we’re trying to make a statement. Friday night will be the best time to make a statement.”
