JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police intensify their search for a pair of masked men who they believe robbed a convenience store clerk at gunpoint late Tuesday night as he was getting in his car to head home. “It isn’t the first time something like that happened,” resident James Price said. “The store has been broken into like four times, but now it’s a robbery and to hear that, it’s crazy.” Witnesses said the store clerk was bringing out trash to the dumpster then walked over to his car to head home for the night. But when he got to his door he was greeted by two masked men. Investigators said the alleged robbers were both black, dressed in all black and that one was armed with a handgun. The seemingly targeted act still has residents who live in midtown concerned. “It shouldn’t be happening around here,” Price said. “This is a school zone out here and there are kids everywhere. So for something like that to happen, it’s crazy.” The manager of the restaurant next door to the store said the entire incident was caught on their security cameras, giving hope that the men responsible for this brazen robbery will be brought to justice. “It makes me feel bad,” Price said. “But at the same time I’ve got kids out here and everything, so I try to keep me and my family away from all that.” Jackson police said the clerk was not injured during the robbery and that the two men only got away with his wallet.
