Cathey, Fiegel Interview for Superintendent Position
The final two candidates for school superintendent were interviewed by Jackson-Madison County School Board members, Wednesday night. The interviews began with Doctor Damon Cathey, who is the assistant superintendent for Kingsport City Schools in east Tennessee. He told school board members his mission is to give students a quality education and prepare high school seniors for college. He also told the board, discipline is a key value he believes should be incorporated into every school system. Also interviewed Wednesday night was Doctor Craig Fiegel, current superintendent of the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools in Plymouth, Michigan. During his interview, he told the board he plans to work together with parents, students and faculty to improve the school system by encouraging students to think and apply their knowledge in real world situations. The board will hold a special called meeting, Thursday to decide who will be the next superintendent, when the new school year begins, August 2.
