DAR Honors WW II Veterans
The Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a special ceremony to honor World War II veterans. The ceremony was actually supposed to be held on Pearl Harbor Day, but it was postponed until today due to snow that fell in Jackson on December 7. 2011 marked seven decades since the attack on Pearl Harbor Hawaii and Wednesday’s program was to commemorate this very special anniversary and the sacrifices that were made. “Today we’re celebrating the veterans of WWII and we are remembering the sacrifices and the attack of Pearl Harbor 70 years ago,” said Sherry Taylor of the Jackson-Madison County Daughters of the American Revolution. The Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the DAR was chartered in April 1901, making it one of the oldest chapters in the state.
