Inmate Wanted for Not Returning to Jail

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help finding an inmate on the run after being furloughed for a funeral, Tuesday. Joe Frank Watkins, 37, was released Tuesday at 6 a.m. to attend his mother’s funeral in Ripley, a request that was granted by Judge Don Allen. Watkins is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was serving a 180 day sentence for violating his community corrections on a charge of making meth.
