Investigators in Henderson County are trying to find out what led a man to allegedly shoot his ex wife’s boyfriend Thursday night. They arrested Scott Carpenter, 32 when they arrived at a log cabin on New Flanagan Road in West Henderson County. Officials said they believe Carpenter shot Darren Putman, 34 at least two times with a 45 caliber handgun. Investigators told 7 Eyewitness News they do not know exactly what led to the dispute, but they do know that Putman is the current boyfriend of Carpenter’s ex wife. Carpenter’s injuries required immediate medical attention. “When EMS did arrive on the scene, they called for Wings from Memphis. He was flown from the scene to the Memphis Med. Last report he was rushed into surgery and that’s all I can release,” said Captain Tracey Grisham of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department. Carpenter remains in the Henderson County jail with a $250,000 bond. He faces charges of criminal intent to commit first degree murder and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Putman remains at The Med in Memphis.
