A local cable operator is going green with the installation of equipment that can use the power of the sun. Solar and renewable power systems of Jackson has completed two solar installations at Infostructure Incorporated which provides service to Humboldt, Medina and Three Way. The solar panels are expected to produce around 26,000 killowatt hours of clean energy per year. One of the installations is an 8 kilowatt solar tracker at the company’s tower site in Humboldt. “Well, we get the overall the overall thing of being a cleaner earth but we do get to save on our eletricity bill. I think it’s going to cut in to about 25% of our bill,” said Jessica Williams, marketing manager, with Infostructure. “We all have recycling bins at each of our desks, we’re trying to do what we can locally and individually to be a greener company, but to have the solar panel awnings we just think is really cool to showcase and to show off.” Industry experts said most solar panels are expected to produce power for at least 25 years. The company’s owner said they are pleased to pump clean energy into the local grid and help offset energy produced from burning coal.
