Union Prays For Youth
The Mentoring Coalition declared Sunday a day of prayer for the city’s youth. Union students, faculty, and residents joined together downtown to pray. The coalition is a group that focuses on the well being of high risk young people in the Jackson community. Union University’s Center for Just and Caring Communities facilitated the group. Sunday, nearly one hundred people came out to join hands, and their faith praying for youth dealing with poverty, violence, and drug and alcohol abuse. “They are the best richest resource a community has and if we no well by our children then our community is going to do well,” said organizer Mary Anne Poe. Residents also prayed for education systems, after school programs, and public officials.
