South Gibson Co. HS Holds First Mock DUI Crash
Wednesday morning at South Gibson County High School in Medina a Mock DUI crash was staged for the 110 seniors at the school. An staged accident caused by a teenage drunk driver was portrayed. Police responded along with fire, ambulance and helicopter. Personnel responded to the scene as if it were real. All of this was done for the seniors to learn the importance of not drinking and driving. This was part of the Coordinated School Health Program that addresses youth risk behaviors. This was the first Mock DUI crash at the high school. “Well I hope they take the program that has been planned for them very seriously because this is a very serious issue in our community and our society as a whole. We hope they learn from it that drinking and driving is not an option that they should choose,” said Phil Rogers, principal of South Gibson County High School. The mock crash team is composed of students from all five high school in the county.
