Hearing Set for Deputy in Excessive Force Investigation

Madison County Deputy Benjamin Long learned what departmental policies he is accused of violating while booking an inmate over the weekend. According to the sheriff, the 24-year-old met with tow of his superiors, Wednesday and was told he had violated five different policies, including use of unnecessary force and conduct unbecoming of an officer. The violations are associated with the Saturday booking of a 52-year-old inmate for DUI. His formal hearing is set for next Wednesday.
